This qualification is for building professionals involved in structural principles, risk and financial management, estimating, contracts, contractor selection, supervision and management of building and construction projects.
It covers residential construction up to Class 1 and 10 buildings to a maximum of 3 storeys, and specified commercial construction under the National Construction Code.
Training and assessment must involve a live or very closely simulated building and construction workplace for specified requirements. General construction induction training is also required for people carrying out construction work.
Twenty-seven (27) units, comprising twenty-four (24) core units and three (3) elective units, are required for the award of the CPC50220 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building). Units have been selected in accordance with the qualification packaging rules and are relevant to the qualification outcomes, local industry requirements and the AQF level.
There are no formal entry requirements for the qualification. To enrol with Starford College, applicants must:
be at least 18 years of age and have completed Year 12 or equivalent
participate in a course entry interview to determine suitability for the course and student needs
have an IELTS* score of 6.0 (test results must be no more than 2 years old). English language competence can also be demonstrated through documented evidence of any of the following:
- educated for 5 years in an English-speaking country; or
- successful completion of an English Placement Test.
